Memorial Day Message

It is Memorial Day, and these doves, painted by a volunteer on our campaign, remind me of peace and a connection to the people we have loved and lost. I hope that todayʼs celebrations and commemorations bring all those grieving for loved ones who sacrificed their lives in service to our country a sense of hope and healing.

I hope that in our observance of Memorial Day, we are filled with hope, gratitude and resolve; hope that we can build a world with more peace and justice; gratitude for those who have given their lives defending our country at times when it was beset by war and violence, and resolve that we can work together to create a world free from war, violence, and injustice.

As we gather with our communities to mark this solemn occasion, I hope we can find strength in one another and work to rebuild the connections and relationships that have been torn apart by hate, political division, and war.
