WON’T FIX THIS.

Teacher. Union organizer. Mom. Local elected official. Carleigh Beriont is running for Congress because we don’t want our kids to learn to hide from a school shooter before they learn how to read, we want to afford to live here, and we need a planet to live on.

A FIGHTER FOR
WORKING FAMILIES

A lot of nights, after the kids are finally in bed, Carleigh lies awake doing the math that millions of families across this district are doing at the same time. How long she’ll spend on the phone with the insurance company tomorrow trying to figure out why they won’t cover her kids strep test when she knows it’s covered. Whether she can still afford to send her kid to the daycare her family loves but costs as much as it does to send a kid to UNH. Whether the noise the car is making is one she can safely ignore for a few more weeks.

She thinks about the kid in her children’s class whose mom was hit by a car and lost her job, her health insurance, and her home, and wanted to know if her daughter could spend the night. About the woman who bought a trailer in 1994 for $27,000 and just learned it’s valued at $130,000 and has no idea how she’s going to pay her property taxes. About her kids’ friend’s mom who works full time at $14 an hour and just had her SNAP benefits cut and doesn’t know how she’s going to feed her family.

Then she gets up, drinks some coffee, gets the kids to the bus stop, and heads to work where she teaches her students about history: about the choices people have made and how those choices shape the world we live in. It helps them see that things could be different. Things could be different, if the people in power were different. If they were people like you and me.

Carleigh is the Chair of the Hampton Select Board, where she sees up close how decisions made in Concord and Washington land in local budgets, classrooms, and kitchen tables. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in three years, taught at a public school in the Marshall Islands (a community still grappling with the legacy of U.S. nuclear testing), and helped lead the successful campaign to unionize Harvard’s graduate student workers, winning higher wages, childcare subsidies, and anti-retaliation protections.

She is the only candidate for federal office in the United States running without social media. Not a penny of what this campaign raises goes into the pockets of Mark Zuckerberg or Elon Musk. Every dollar goes to real organizing in the district.
