Carleigh Beriont annouces her campaign for Congress.

I announced my campaign for Congress from the steps of the Hampton Town Hall because that’s where people go when they need help and information.

My decision to run came from seeing how our communities are struggling right now. Families are unable to find affordable childcare and housing, older people are unable to afford property taxes, our public schools are underfunded, and the cost of living keeps going up — meanwhile too many of our leaders in DC are busy playing politics instead of listening.

I’m running because I’ve seen what happens when the people in power stop listening. As the only candidate in the Democratic primary who currently serves in local elected office and the only one to have ever unseated a Republican incumbent, I’ve done everything I can to be a voice for my community.

But without partners in Concord and Washington, we’ve been left without the resources and action we need. Taxes go up. Services get cut. And everyday families are struggling.

NH-01 will be one of the most competitive open districts in the country next year. That means that the change we want to see in our country, and our party, starts here, and it starts right now.

New Hampshire deserves a representative who knows that public service means showing up, asking questions, and sticking your neck out for the people you serve — not just being the loudest voice in the room.

That’s what I’ve tried to do in local government. It’s what I’ve done as a teacher. And it’s what I’ll do in Congress.

New Hampshire is special. It’s where my husband and I chose to settle down, raise our family, and put down roots. From the beaches to the mountains, local libraries to our public schools — this is a place where we care about our neighbors, even when we don’t all agree.

This campaign isn’t about shouting the loudest or scoring political points. It’s about listening. It’s about showing up. And it’s about building something better, together.

I hope you’ll be a part of this movement.
