Guest Post: Volunteer Ginger Hankins - “Finding the Hope and Joy”

Back in early July, I reached out to the campaigns of three of the candidates running in the NH-1. The only person I heard back from was Carleigh’s husband Eric Schildge. We immediately connected over some long phone conversations. As a result of those calls, my husband and I offered to host an event at our home, so our friends and neighbors could meet Carleigh. Joe and I are drawn to Carleigh’s story, the campaign and the message.

On a gorgeous blue sky morning in July, we gathered in our garden for coffee and conversation. Carleigh asked us the question “What do you wish politicians knew or understood better about your experiences?” And then she listened. And took notes.

Carleigh listens and takes note as guests answer her questions.

Know what else I loved? There were kiddos playing. When was the last time you were at a campaign event with fairy houses and tea parties? Coffee, conversation and young people outdoors. That’s the way forward!

Fairy houses and Calico Critters!

Carleigh, Eric and I brainstormed ideas to capitalize on all the positive energy from our two coffees with the candidate. I’m currently hosting a book study. We’re working to figure out what comes next for our town and our state.

I had lost the hope and joy I felt last summer when I knocked on over 2000 doors here in Carroll County. Thanks to the Carleigh Beriont campaign for helping me reclaim that hope and joy.

Bringing back the hope and joy to politics.

Would you like to get involved in Carleigh’s campaign? An event with your friends and neighbors can take so many forms: coffee and conversation, making homemade buttons, an evening gathering in your living room, or a meet up at the local library. Get in touch: VOLUNTEER SIGN UP
