Manchester City Democrats BBQ
Carleigh stopped by the Manchester City Democrats BBQ to chat with Democratic activists and meet candidates for local office like Democratic Mayoral Candidate Jessica Spillers. Carleigh knows the courage and determination it takes to run for office, and nobody loves talking about local government more than Carleigh!
At events across the district, Carleigh has argued that the rest of our government could learn a lot from local elected officials. When Congress and the state government get locked in partisan bickering and put the needs of big donors or party politics ahead of their constituents, it’s local elected officials who are left to cobble together solutions for the people they serve.
Taking potshots at other politicians on social media may work for scoring political points in Washington and Concord, but at town hall, we figure out how to work together to deliver for our communities and make sustainable investments in our public infrastructure, employees, schools, and safety while being mindful of the impact those things have on our property tax bills (especially in a state that doesn’t pay its fair share).
When Carleigh goes to Washington, she’s going to bring the lessons she’s learned in local government: asking tough questions, listening to people affected by the policies she helps to shape, and doing what is right for the people she serves.
