Solidarity forever.

On Wednesday morning, Carleigh joined the picket line with members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1837.

Carleigh stood with Eversource system operators protesting for a fair contract.

The workers took action after months of stalled negotiations for a first contract covering Eversource System Operators in the Electrical System Control Center and the System Operations Center. These operators, who manage the transmission and distribution electric grids across Eversource’s New Hampshire service territory, voted to join IBEW in November and December 2023.

These operators are essential workers who keep the lights on during extreme weather, and we depend on them when things get really rough. Without a fair contract, Eversource can require them to show up for work on erratic schedules and a lack of workplace protections and a fair contract puts our entire system at risk.

Carleigh knows what it takes to fight for a fair contract. In 2019, she helped form the first graduate student workers union in the history of Harvard. She sat across the bargaining table during their first contract negotiations, and she went on strike when the university failed to bargain in good faith.

Wherever working people are fighting for a fair contract with a living wage, safe working conditions, and a job with dignity, you’ll find Carleigh.
