12 Months of Jericho Walks
I walked this morning.
My husband and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary with a walk in Manchester.
This was my twelfth monthly Jericho Walk. In sunshine, rain, and driving snow, we walk seven times around the Norris Cotton Federal Building where ICE has its district headquarters.
Each month, faith leaders, immigration justice activists, and ordinary people gather to sing songs, pray, and bear witness to the broken immigration system and the devastating impact it has on our communities.
Today, Buddhist members of the coalition led the vigil by reflecting on their commitment to end suffering with loving kindness, sympathetic joy, compassion, and equanimity.
We pledged to stand with our immigrant neighbors and walk with them so that together we can create a more dignified and compassionate world.
We stood in solidarity with those whose voices are silenced by the inhumanity of our immigration system.
And, we centered ourselves to be fully present to the suffering and to the hope of our immigrant friends and neighbors.
I will keep walking. I hope you will walk with me, wherever you are.
We need real leadership and reform in our immigration system. Click here to view my plans.
