Adam and I talked about the DNC and New Hampshireʼs presidential primary, renewable energy, Social Security, the wars in Iran and Ukraine, and the rising dissatisfaction among voters when it comes to status quo politics and status quo politicians.

At the end of the interview, Adam asked me something I wasn’t expecting. He asked if I was angry. The truth is yes, I am angry!

Iʼm angry that Donald Trump dragged us into a war that has killed 18 Americans, thousands of Iranians, and threatened the lives and livelihoods of people around the world.

Iʼm angry that ICE agents continue to terrorize and kill innocent people around the country and the Trump administration presses forward with their hateful “mass-deportation” agenda.

Iʼm angry that Republicans in Washington passed a bill last year that kicked millions of Americans off Medicaid and slashed funding for food assistance just so the rich can get richer.

I’m angry that our elected leaders spend more time cozying up to the rich and powerful and trying to go viral on social media than they do working to make things better for people.

My anger is rooted in my recognition that none of this was inevitable. It fuels my conviction that we can organize with compassion and make better policy going forward if we keep the people we are fighting for at the center of everything we do.

Like me, the people I meet on the campaign trail arenʼt looking to stoke anger and division in this country; we are just trying to build a life worth living. We deserve that, and we can make it happen.
