Guest Post: Volunteer Joel Iwaskiewicz - “Hope from Our Fridge”

My wife Laura and I are proud to volunteer on Carleigh's campaign for so many reasons. Not only is she the candidate we believe in to represent the Granite State in Washington, but Carleigh is also the kind of person we're raising our children to admire and emulate. When you ask our son Miles or our daughter Phoebe who Carleigh is, they're quick to answer: "She's a leader."

In the ruthless political landscape of 2025, elected officials routinely tout themselves as "fighters" who "refuse to back down." We applaud their grit, and we rely on their tenacity. But Laura and I want our kids to grow up cheering on role models for more than their dominance in life's battles or tally of wins. We want Miles and Phoebe to recognize a champion who draws on the best in themself to bring out the best in others. And that's the kind of leader we've always known Carleigh to be.

Hope from our fridge.

On our fridge, we keep a reminder of why we love Carleigh. Her campaign postcards are pinned to the refrigerator door with our children's "learn to read" magnets. It only makes sense that the words we see next to Carleigh's picture every day are terms that describe her to a tee: "teacher for us," "blue mom," and - most simply and perfectly - "good."

That’s why we’ve invited our friends and neighbors to meet Carleigh at our house. It’s why we’re meeting up with other parents with young kids at the playground to talk about the challenges working families face and how we can support Carleigh as she works to tackle these issues in D.C. It’s why we write postcards, and make phone calls, and knock on doors to get her elected to Congress.

Everyone deserves a congresswoman like Carleigh, just as they deserve a friend, mentor, and neighbor like her. She is good, through and through. That's why Carleigh fills me with hope for the future of my family, communities across New Hampshire, and our country.

Would you like to get involved in Carleigh’s campaign? An event with your friends and neighbors can take so many forms: coffee and conversation, making homemade buttons, an gathering in your living room, or a meet up at the local library. Get in touch: VOLUNTEER SIGN UP
