Interview: The Adam Mulholland Show
Buckle up and plug in! This one hour and forty minute conversation with Adam was one of the highlights of a very busy week. We discussed a lot of topics in this episode such as our rigged economy, foreign policy (Gaza, Iran, and the importance of diplomacy and “soft power”), healthcare, inflation, social media, and a lot more!
VIDEO: NHDP Midterm Convention Report
Democrats from around NH gathered at Dover High School today to officially kick off the 2026 midterm elections! It was a chance for people to come together, connect around a shared vision for the future, and prepare ourselves for the hard work ahead. It was a lso a chance for all the candidates running for Congress in NH-01 to make their case to the community organizers, Democratic activists, elected officials, and party leaders who spend their Saturday in a high school auditorium talking about democracy and the future of our state and country.
PSA: Deadline to Switch Party Affiliation-June 2nd!
With the September 8 New Hampshire State Primary fast approaching, we wanted to share an important reminder about upcoming voter registration and party affiliation deadlines.
Video: Manchester Immigration Action and Candidate Forum
I traveled twice to Manchester today. The first to stand in solidarity with a person from South Sudan who ICE is trying to deport and the second time to attend a candidate forum at the Manchester City Library. You can see some of what I said here.
Op-Ed: Protect our neighborhoods and grid from unchecked data centers
I am livid. Once again, Republicans in our state government are putting Big Tech ahead of the health and welfare of New Hampshire residents.
HATCh Literacy Event
On Saturday, the Hampton Area Alliance for Thriving Children (HATCh), which I help lead along with a group of incredible local advocates, educators, activists, and parents, held its second annual literacy fair at Winnacunnet High School. Over 100 families came to get free books, make buttons and art projects, sign a literacy pledge, and visit the Gather mobile grocery store bus where they could choose from a selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, prepared meals, egg, milk, bread, and other staples—all for free!
Op-Ed: New Hampshire Continues to Fail Children
This week, lawyers for nearly 2,000 survivors of abuse at the Sununu Youth Services Center — the place most Granite Staters still know as the Youth Development Center — asked the New Hampshire Supreme Court to hold the state to a deal it already broke.
Guest Post: Evan Campbell - Break up Corporate Ski Monopolies
“This place had a heartbeat in its day.
Vail bought the mountains, and nothing was the same”
-Noah Kahan
Why I support a Data Center Moratorium
I am livid. Once again, Republicans in our state government are putting Big Tech ahead of the health and welfare of NH residents. On Tuesday, the Republican majority in the State House Committee on Municipal and County Government voted to recommend a bill infringing on the ability of local governments to regulate the construction of data centers in their towns and cities.
Video: Hampton Coffee with Carleigh
As we enter the final four months of this primary, and turn our eyes to November, I know how important it is to keep places like Hampton in mind. Our purple community is consistently the bellwether town in New Hampshire’s first district. Candidates who win in Hampton need to do more than just preach to the choir. They need to show up. They need to listen. They need to cut through the political noise and deliver results for the people who need it most.
One Person. One Vote.
Moments like this feel so desperate. They make me so angry. But I’m not giving up, and I’m not losing hope. We all want democracy. We all want our votes to count. We all deserve a voice in our future.
Interview: Lantern News with Christopher Smith
I joined Christopher Smith from Lantern News for a wide ranging interview about how Congress can provide relief to working people right now. We also touched on mental and physical healthcare policy, taking on Big Tech, and why Democrats should talk more about the federal deficit.
Op-Ed: What Hampton Taught Me About Climate Policy in Washington
If you want to understand what's broken about federal climate policy, don't start in Washington. Start at a table in a town recreation center, with a room full of neighbors, a map of your coastline, and a stack of post it notes.
This spring, Hampton finished its first Coastal Resilience Roadmap, the product of seven months of forums, surveys, and community listening sessions.
Video: Political Corruption is Driving the Energy Crisis
Energy prices are high. There are short term reasons for this, like Trump’s disastrous war in Iran. There are also long term reasons for this including failure to make consistent and predictable investments in renewable energy. But, one decades-old reason for sky-high energy prices is clear and infuriating: political corruption.
Carleigh’s Statement on the White House Correspondents’ Association Shooting
There are no bunkers with walls thick enough to protect our democracy from the damage that political violence has inflicted on all of us. We can’t arm enough guards or develop sophisticated enough security measures to stop this crisis. The solution depends on marshalling the political will to pass commonsense gun control measures while working to diminish the impact of platforms that incentivize the worst and most violent impulses in American politics.
It is time for federal action at the YDC
I am deeply disturbed by the reports I am reading from the Sununu Youth Detention Center in Manchester, and it is long past time for federal authorities to step in and address the appalling lack of oversight and accountability by the relevant state agencies overseeing the facility and its staff.
Gutting Shipyard union puts our national security at risk
The Trump administration has terminated union contracts with two unions at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The administration says they are cutting the legs out from under federal workers and denying them the right to union representation in the interest of national security, but this couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Alana Schaeffer, president of the Portsmouth Metal Trades Council, whose union is currently shielded by a court injunction, knows the true story: this action hurts national security. As Schaeffer put it: “our workers don’t know if they’re going to wake up tomorrow and they’re going to have also lost their rights.” That level of instability and uncertainty impacts job performance and workplace safety.
More for your Dollar: The Future of Market Basket
Market Basket, under Artie T.’s leadership, worked to balance shareholder profits with fair working conditions for its employees and low prices and high quality for customers.
These types of large, community-oriented businesses are rare in today’s digital-first economy. I am deeply concerned that the ouster of Artie T. portends a shift in Market Basket’s priorities towards a strategy that maximizes corporate profits at the expense of workers and customers.
Video: Why are our property taxes so high?
On Tax Day, I gave testimony at the NH State House about how NH residents are being crushed by property taxes. Even renters see this burden reflected in their rent, which is rising faster than their income can keep up with.
Unfortunately, Granite Staters don’t have the partners we need at the State House or in Congress. We deserve so much better. Watch my testimony, and my reaction afterwards.
