Carleigh’s Interviews
Buckle up and plug in! This one hour and forty minute conversation with Adam was one of the highlights of a very busy week. We discussed a lot of topics in this episode such as our rigged economy, foreign policy (Gaza, Iran, and the importance of diplomacy and “soft power”), healthcare, inflation, social media, and a lot more!
I joined Christopher Smith from Lantern News for a wide ranging interview about how Congress can provide relief to working people right now. We also touched on mental and physical healthcare policy, taking on Big Tech, and why Democrats should talk more about the federal deficit.
I sat down with Delaney Nickerson at The New Hampshire, the campus newspaper for the University of New Hampshire to talk about my campaign and our gathering at noon on April 12th at the Freedom Cafe in Durham.
Carleigh sat down with Gabriel Perry of The Laconia Daily Sun to talk about her campaign for Congress. She was proud to announce the endorsement of Gilmanton State Rep. David Nagel, who said he’s endorsing her because “No. 1, she’s smart. No. 2, she’s energetic and No. 3., she’s very civic-minded. I’m very impressed with her.”
On Thursday morning, I joined Jeff Chidester on WFEA Manchester to talk about Maple syrup season, why childcare costs way more than $3 a day and a pack of Oreos, our beloved tri-pawed, Rali, and the chocolate chip cookies I ate for dinner the last two nights.
How often do you realize you can’t pay for parking, get into a movie, or do some basic task without your phone? We’ve gotten to the point where it feels like our lives are beholden and secondary to the priorities and profits of these corporations, and we never had a say in it. I want to see much stronger privacy protections for minors, including limits on data collection, and real investments in our schools and families so that they can thrive. Kids’ health should always be prioritized over profits. And I want to enforce anti-monopoly laws against these companies. They have amassed so much political and cultural power by virtue of their sheer size, which helps shield them from accountability for the harm their platforms cause.
My students looked at me, and they said: ‘what is this country?’ This is so different than the America they were promised. I’m a Millenial, and I can count on one hand the number of friends who can afford to have kids because the cost of daycare is so impossible. That’s crazy. That’s not what we thought our lives would be like. I think there’s a level of cynicism that young people bring to politics because they don’t feel like their experiences are being taken seriously.
I support policies that don’t yet have universal backing within the party, like Medicare for All and “back-from-the-brink” legislation that would ensure no single person, including President Donald Trump, has unilateral authority to launch nuclear weapons. When you listen to people across the district, you don’t start by asking what party they belong to. You ask what they care about. People want to be safe, afford to live here and cool down the tone of our politics.
On Monday, I invited my fellow candidates for Congress in NH-01 to join me for a “Social Media-Free February.” Campaigning for six months without social media has given me the opportunity to slow down and connect with people throughout the district without feeling the pressure to capture and create content for the internet. Going direct to the people also offers a chance to break the stranglehold these platforms and their right-wing billionaire owners have on our political system.
I’ll be talking more about my decision and what I’ve learned at the Wolfeboro Public Library on Saturday, January 17th. Click here to signup for the event!
I sat down with Adam Sexton of WMUR Channel 9 to discuss my plans to regulate and break up Big Tech, my decision to avoid social media; the government shutdown and the fight for health care policy changes; what Democrats should do if they win the majority in Congress in 2026; the immigration issue; and the Trump administration’s airstrikes in the Caribbean.
Carleigh joined Mary Beth Raven in the Letʼs Talk Merrimack studio to talk about affordable childcare, Medicare for All, and the potential for bipartisan cooperation to address the housing crisis.
On Monday, August 18, Carleigh sat down with Mark Guerringue, publisher of “The Conway Daily Sun” to talk about her campaign, bringing more ethical leadership to D.C., the affordability crisis, immigration, the Gaza war, and what it means to be a progressive in NH.
Carleigh appeared on WSCA Portsmouth’s weekly talk show “Seacoast Currents” with Larry Drake and Kathy Somssich. They talked about what inspired Carleigh to run for Congress, her decision not to use social media, religion and politics, immigration, and more!
On Sunday, Carleigh joined Adam Sexton in studio on WMUR’s CloseUp to discuss her campaign and priorities in Congress. They talked about the affordability crisis in NH, Trump and the NH GOP's attacks on public education, and Carleigh explained why she's not on social media. Watch now!
